Michael Brothers has left Brightlingsea Regent to join fellow Ryman League Division One North club Needham Market.

The club received a seven-day transfer for Brothers on Sunday, and have allowed him to join The Marketmen.

Manager James Webster admitted being disappointed by the news, but understood the reasons behind the striker returning to one of his former clubs.

He said: "It's sad news and comes as a big blow, because we're playing so well at the moment.

"But Needham Market are on another planet compared to us in terms of financial clout.

"Michael has a young family to support so when that amount of money is offered, in addition to a two-year deal, I don't think anyone could turn it down.

"He's been great for us since he came in and given everyone a big lift, both on and off the pitch.

"He's a good character and I only have positive things to say about Bruvs, just a shame sometimes how these things happen but I guess that's football. We all wish him well."
