Still not happy

I know that my last, one and only post, was not popular, but I have to say again we need a different approach and if the current management cannot provide it there must be a change.  On Saturday there was a super goal to start the game, but players of Reece's calibre need the ball fed to them as does George and Martin.  The high ball still dominates the Urchins' game and it just doesn't work for us. We need something different. Is Martin Ling still training the lads? If he is why isn't he insisting that the passing game we played at the beginning of the season is maintained? We play better when the ball is on the ground instead of booting it and missing out the midfield.

Why does Thomas Gogo sit on the bench when he made such an impression and he seemed a super corner and free kick taker. Something that we are lacking now that Joey May is still not fit. We lost James Love and after being captain at Brentwood, and their player of the year, he moved to Chelmsford.  And I bet Urchin fans must sobbing when they see Ade Yussuff scoring at Dagenham and Redbridage with such regularity - remind me, but i think he remained on our bench for long periods.

I noticed Colin on the bench on Saturday, and I'm not sure if this is a permanent thing, but we need something.to happen. I know the Riverside took the mickey out of the Hendon manager saying he had swallowed the coaching book, but at least he was attempting to give advice from the sidelines. rather than complaining about the ref's decisions all the time.

Thanks

Think we scored too early and just couldnt finish the game off two shots off the woodwork and numerous half chances Bury one chance one goal were some good moments think the acid test will be at Canvey next saturday good to see us get our first home goal still work in progress and a long way to go yet

Fair comment with reasonable arguments made to substantiate the points of view made.

Good to see healthy debate on the forum.

Can't comment on the game. Sounds as though we should have won from what I've heard.

With regards to the long ball, clearly we're not cut out for that. Losing Leon McKenzie didn't help in that respect.

I don't think it's a deliberate tactic, I think if we lose control of the midfield then we end up doing that because we have no other choice.

I've got to admit, I didn't enjoy watching George battle with a 6'+ centre half for a ball in the air.

I don't know why we didn't play Thomas - It may have been tactical or he may have been carrying an injury. Certainly he looked quite good when I saw him.

I don't know all the facts and I wouldn't like to be a manager.

I don't usually comment too much on here these days but leave it to you experts.  However ....

It just goes to show how we all have different perspectives on the game.  Sitting on the Riverside with my blanket and flask me and my chum Uri thought that we played very well until they equalised.  We seemed to keep the ball on the deck much more than usual and showed a lot of spirit.  It was a very entertaining game.  Although its said too often, we were genuinely unlucky ... hitting the woodwork several times and a couple of excellent saves by their 'keeper.  On another day some of those near misses would have gone it.  Sadly when the equaliser did come we resorted to hoofing it again which was disappointing.  Its very easy to criticise but IMHO there were a lot of positives to take from the game ... which has not always been the case up until now.

It's bollocks people moaning,we've lost players who fcked the club over last season, struggling with money and last season the same manager got us to the play off final where we were let down by the players.

We played the first half a dozen games away, which didn't help and are gradually finding our feet

I think Serious Sid’s take on this game was spot on, how did we manage not to win by at least three goals I just don’t know. We haven’t played so well and created as many chances all season.

Ade Yussuff and James Love seemed very good players in my opinion and always seemed commited, did they let the club down ??

Think the game against Canvey will be a lot tougher.

Come On You Urchins…….

I don't have an issue with people moaning.  At the end of the day, they pay their money but moaning for the sake of it is no good.  it needs to be constructive which in fairness to the OP the comments were.

Having said that, I don't agree with much of it and tend to align more with SS.  We did play decent football for a lot of the game and only started going long following the equaliser as we grew desperate for the winner.  On the flip side though, Bury were absolutely hopeless, so if we can't beat them it really doesn't bode well.  Our pitch isn't condusive to free flowing football unfortunately which also doesn't help as it tends to be a real leveller.

The issue with Gogo is we have such a glut of midfielders.  He was excellent vs Dulwich when played centrally, then moved wide vs Harrow where he struggled then wide again vs Hampton where he struggled again and was subbed at half-time.  In the pecking order he's probably behind Curley, Davis and May (when fit) and competing with Johnson, Christou, Bourne and Hursit.  He's a smashing player though and his dead ball deliveries are excellent.  Perhaps more of an impact player atm.  Loads of potential.

Whether we need a management change is debateable.  I very much doubt we have the second worst squad in the RPL so by that token we're underperforming as a club and the management team are responsible for that just as they'll have the responsibility for turning things around.  I do like to see Colin on the touchline (Harrow, Bury) though, as it's actually good to hear players being encouraged rather than the usual obsession with the officials.

I agree with the original post. Its about time something is changed.

Its now a good two months into the season and we are yet to move away from the bottom of the table (1 point).

What are we going to do, give it another month and see what happens then. Oh wait then it will be another month and then another.

Before we know it, the end of season is upon us and we will be in a rather difficult situation, stuck in the bottom four.

Get things changing and fast!

Totally agree.

Jimmy is the right manager for us and the form is definitely getting better. I'm not saying we are going to win the league (there's already some signs that it could end up being a two horse race) but I am confident that we will be much higher up the table when the season ends then we are now.

Well said,be careful what you wish for people.

This club has gone through a period of 4-5 years now of being stable, one dodgy start to the season which in all fairness was always going to be difficult with players leaving, lack of money and no home games till mid September and people want to uproot all the previous good work.

Last 5 years

1 promotion

2 Essex cups

A few decent FA cup and trophy games,do people remember these sort of events 12-15 years ago???

No

You're entitled to an opinion Miss AFCH, it's a free forum. I don't think you're alone in that opinion.

Other people will post their opinions as well though. It's all part of a healthy debate :D

There's no getting away from the fact that we were pretty bad at the beginning of the season and I think there was understandably a lot of frustration around from the fans, myself included. Grays and Leatherhead were two low points for me.

Having seen what we've achieved in previous seasons, that has become even more frustrating.

I do feel that we are turning it around though.

I think that as a club, we maybe have punched above our weight in this league for a while.

If you look at the resources that the likes of Margate, Maidstone and Dulwich clearly have, we are not going to be able to compete with those kind of clubs financially.

I'm not having a go at those clubs, that's just the way it is.

Romford lost 8-0 on Saturday and not one of us are calling for changes, except for our incontinence pads obviously. Surprised your lot couldn't beat Bury though, as they must have been the easiest FA Cup victory we have had for many a year.

Fair play to the Romford players who apologised for their poor performance via the RFC Forum.  It took some courage (euphemism for "balls") to do that.

Annie, not shooting anyone down but as people are entitled to constantly ask for change, not specifically you but others are far more Damning, some of us are entitled to defend a bloke who has had to put up with cheating players,a council that has fcked us this season, players who think it's ok to play a sunday league cup final 18 hours before a play off final,a major sponsor pulling out.dwindling crowds etc etc,we've had a crap start to the season,no one can deny that and no one is hiding from the fact but if anyone thinks that this club will go down, seriously underestimates the manager, staff cnt people running this club.

The manager bleeds red and white and probably feels worse than any of the fans but this is the Ryman premier, not the Premier league and thankfully knee jerk reactions aren't as common place at this level as time and time again it's probed they don't always work, far from it.

So we are going to have a season where we aren't challenging, not at our best,so what,it happens
