Sanderjo
Why have Barkingside moved to Ilford and is it only for the year? I think I asked this last year, but didn't find the answer, who owns Oakside Stadium? I thought the local authority was the likely candidate. Ian_W
I think it is permanent or at least for the next few seasons. My understanding is that they have signed a long agreement of multiple years. Barkingside sold the ground to Redbridge I believe. Newbury Forest of the Essex Olympian league have moved to Oakside now - http://www.nonleague.co.uk/leagues/_/essex-olympian-league/essex-olympian-premier-division/newbury-forest-r1084

RalphC
Probably because they do now own a ground. Maybe the chairman wants to take over Tilbury? Who knows.....

missunderstood
They sold it to Ford United, now Redbridge in 2001 I may be wrong, but I think its owned Jimmy Chapman, who probably owns Redbridge.

Pinky76
They left Oakside primarily because Redbridge tried to put the rent up which was a real shame, thankfully the good people running Ilford were happy to accommodate Barkingside at Cricklefields so there are no plans to return anytime soon. Unfortunately the Oakside lease was sold by a previous Chairman many moons ago to Redbridge/Ford United, the said Chairman then went off and took over Grays leaving Barkingside stuck renting a pitch from Redbridge at their own stadium - terrible. The current Chairman Jimmy Flanagan who is an ordinary bloke like the rest of us, has done a wonderful job with the club securing their highest league status in the Ryman North and winning a cup a few years back when they were in the Essex Senior League. I hope they manage to stay up this year as just reward for all his, the Manager, staff, players and committees hard work on an absolute shoestring budget.
