When can we expect a proper statement from the club?

I know things are a little sensitive at the moment but surely the club need to put a strong statement out there to deny all the lies? The allegations on Twitter are embarrassing and threaten our future as a club.

I know I wasnt a fan of George but even he wouldn't have said these things.

I wish we had stuck with Steve so be careful what you wish for in future.

Statement needed please before it's too late.

I am a big fan of George and cant help thinking about all the fantastic after match celebrations, how one man brought the club back to life was amazing in my opinion.

I agree that George would not have said what is alleged and I urge the board to get a official statement on the web site a.s.a.p.

There's no bigger fan of Borg than me, but I believe what's being said on Twitter. I don't know why the Wingate fans, who are a lovely bunch, would spread such a vicious rumour. I've heard that both the linesman and two players heard some vile things from Borg. And, I can't think of another reason why the club would dismiss him or why he would've been sent off at half time.

I'd really love what's being said on Twitter not to be true, but I can't help but think it probably is. Here's hoping though.

I would rather we went for suspension pending the outcome of the investigation rather than letting him walk away with the club's blessing. Now we look weak for our lack of action rather like Liverpool did with the Suarez racism incident.

I still refuse to believe this happened and await an official statement.

To be fair, I thought Liverpool looked weak with their "support" of Suarez, especially when he was found guilty by the Football Association.

In this instance ETFC have made a strong stance. Having followed Enfield Fc when Borg was in charge (wasn't there a police call to go to the dugout?), I agree there was "volatile" issues. But am surprised in what I have read.

Today's statement on the Wingate website says it all really, without going into the gory details. So sad, I do feel for your club and supporters.

Personally, I would suggest you don't push your committee/management into making a further statement at this sensitive time.

Not at the game so can only comment on what I have read on various sites. GB gets sent off. The referee submits a report. ETFC club officials apologise. GB leaves the club. Obviously something happened and the club appear to have acted accordingly. If GB was out of line, then the club can honestly say that it has acted in accordance with its own policies. Tough decision to make, but action had to be taken.

No doubt someone will say the decision to part company had nothing to do with what has been written on the various websites.

A couple of questions:

IF GB is found to have said something unacceptable is the club liable to be punished or does any sanction just apply to the individual?

Who should be the new permanent manager? I note that Wealdstone fans have been concerned that Scott McLeish might throw his hat in the ring again. Or should Bradley Quinton be given a go?

I don't think the club can be held to be accountable in this case. It has taken the appropriate action if the allegations are true. If the thing had happened on the pitch the player would have been sent off and there would have been no sanction against the club.

Liverpool were not sanctioned over the actions of Suarez and I am sure there are other examples that people can highlight.

Answers two matters within one club statement.

Bradley Quinton is the new Town manager.

Bradley Quinton, who will be 36 next month, joined the club as a player on a dual registration with Braintree Town in December last year, and has made 30 appearances for the club. In fourteen years at Braintree, he amassed over 560 appearances. He had assumed the assistant manager role at Enfield Town at the start of this season, and took up the offer of the manager role permanently with little hesitation.

Quinton said “I’m absolutely thrilled and extremely honoured to have been asked to manage the club. I want my teams to deliver performances that make supporters proud and look forward to showing people what a fantastic football club this is both on and off the pitch. We have a brilliant bunch of players and their hard work and support for me since I’ve been here has been outstanding. There is enormous potential here, I can’t wait to get started and will work hard to deliver the success that this club deserves”

Chairman Paul Reed said “Bradley was the unanimous choice of the board and we’re delighted that he has accepted the position. Since he joined us last season Brad has impressed everyone with his professionalism, intelligence, attitude and passion for the game. During his time at Braintree, Brad stepped in as caretaker manager on a number of occasions and always had a positive impact on results. The feedback we’ve had on him from a number of well-respected people within the game has been exemplary. I’m sure everyone will get behind Bradley and the team and join me in wishing him every success in his new role ”.

Following an initial statement about the departure of George Borg earlier in the week, the club are unable to comment further on an alleged incident during Bank Holiday Monday’s home match against Wingate and Finchley until the Football Association have concluded an investigation and produced a report.
