EU, I PM'd you last night about this very subject! I'm really hoping it is a mistake as my youngsters will be playing on Sundays this season...guess when their first game is.....

I really wanted to get to your place for an away game too

This is my understanding .....

The date for completing the floodlight work is still late August .. but this is dependent on the lights arriving at the club in good time .. they're being shipped from somewhere.  The view was taken that should there be a delay then we (Hornchurch) would be stuffed in re-arranging the fixture as the league won't allow it to be switched to Margate (because we've already switched 3 games) and we wouldn't get another venue on a Saturday.  Finding an alternative ground on a Sunday would be a lot easier.

The decision was therefore made to move it now to the Sunday.

If the work is done then we'll play at the Bridge on the Sunday.  Apart from the fact it's non-league day on the Saturday, the Sunday is also the day when Upminster cricket club play Essex cricket club (benefit match) which always draws a decent crowd and will impact us.

If the work isn't done then an alternaive venue will be sourced for the Sunday.

Andy.

I got your PM but for some reason I can't reply to pms from my I phone which is how I view the forums.

Think I asked Ian W about this before but for some reason it appears to be a problem.

I can do it via going out of mobile on my phone but it takes ages and Andy dick has basically covered everything you asked mate.

Sounds to me like this game will probably be played on a Sunday somewhere away from the bridge as I get the impression that the club aren't particularly confident, obviously they know our local council who are pretty useless but this if it drags on could cripple a club like ours

So has the Maidstone game been moved/venue switched from Tuesday, September 2? Still being listed as that date.

Official update from AFCH; if the game is at Hornchurch it will be on the Saturday, if anywhere else it will be Sunday. We did try to make it 'Sunday wherever', though the league changed the fixture date prematurely. Sunday at Hornchurch is impossible because of the cricket, which will cause parking chaos. Obviously we apologise to everyone for the uncertainty and inconvenience. It's beyond our control. The good news is that work at the ground seems to be going well and there's a good chance that we'll be back home for the Maidstone game on Sept 2. I will keep you guys in touch as the situation develops.

Can someone please ensure that they message me as soon as it becomes clear as I have the away coach booking to deal with and there is a point where getting a driver/vehicle for a Sunday might be a problem

Thanks

Judging by latest reports it may be ok now, yesterday I sensed a lack of confidence but today it seems the confidence is back.

The local council have really stitched us up with these lights in my opinion.

Why they could t start it in June is anyone's guess.

It doesn't get dark till 10pm so the athletics in from mid June to mid July could train till 9-9.30pm without using the lights but for whatever reason the council wouldn't entertain this idea.
