Israel a country of 'peace' ?

Recommended Posts

My comments would have been aimed at the progress that Yitzhak Rabin made in Israel to bring about peace before his assassination by a right-wing fanatic.

That, for me would have been the best chance for peace.

I honestly believe that some people on both sides don't want peace - in the meantime, as usual with these situations, it's the innocent that die.

The only way we will see peace is with negotiation - I think that I'm unlikely to see that in my lifetime, especially with the US continually arming Israel to the teeth.

What happened in WW2 with the holocaust must never be allowed to be repeated, the same with Stalin's actions and with Pol Pot. Unfortunately Hitler didn't have a monopoly on abhorrent behaviour.

And the worst of all was Mao Tse Tung.

Estimates are that he was responsible from anything between 18,000,000 to 45,000,000 deaths - that's 12,000,000 - 39,000,000 more than Jews murdered by the Nazis in WW2.

I'm not belittling the suffering that the Jews have had - their persecution goes back a long way before the 20th century, but it's nowhere near the worst tragedy that has happened in the 20th century (see above) and we need to remember the suffering that other races and people have had, not just the Jewish population

Well Big JR, cup of tea, Hamas broke the ceasefire yet again yesterday, they didn't want to talk, didn't want to stop firing rockets from behind their people, still threatening their people not to go and seek shelter and telling them to ignore warnings of strikes from the Israelis.

Obviously they are convincing some people that what they are doing isn't killing their own people.

I'm not 100% sure about Hammas firing more defective rockets yesterday as I haven't checked the news today.

The reports I saw on television news last night stated that the Israeli's were CLAIMING that Hammas had fired more rockets.  At the time of the news report, there was no confirmation from either the UN or relief workers.  It didn't stop Israel immediately moving heavy armour right back to where they were before and re-calling their negotiators back from Egypt.

Of course, Israel might well be right, but then again, it's quite easy to 'simulate' a rocket attack.

So you're saying that the Israelis are pretending that Hamas fired rockets first now.

You should listen to yourself sometimes. TBH given some of your comments I think you're just a bit biased.

You obviously don't understand what I said.

The report stated that ISRAEL had claimed more rockets had been fired, BUT AT THE TIME THERE WAS NO CORROBORATION.

How in hells name does that make me biased ?

I suppose you'll be moaning next about the cost of flying that critically sick and injured arab girl to the UK for a life saving operation ?

Well obviously when I stated that Hamas had broken the ceasefire it was because I read it in the Times.

However I guess you just found it easier to not take my word for it and invented a conspiracy.

Who the f&ck brought up the funding for and injured girls flight costs eh?

As I said, take a look at yourself.

What I find strange is that no one starts a topic about Isis, the slaughter of the Yezidhis or an American Journalist beheaded by a British Jihadist.

So, no bias at all beating the jews are Hitler drum JR? Do me a favour.

I'm guessing that Hamas broke the ceasefire, the logic betrays me though as these rockets are ineffective and gives Israel justification to kill a load more people.

That's what I'm saying before that some people don't want peace.

Using Northern Ireland yet again (sorry Loose, I know it's not Cornwall), when a peace settlement was agreed the 'Real IRA' as they called themselves tried to derail it.

Thankfully, the likes of Sinn Fein and the UK Government didn't fall for it.

Edited by cup of tea

I posted my reply before seeing this. I'm sure the Times is correct - Hamas would do well to stop being so stupid. It will strengthen the resolve of Israel not to negotiate.

Well exactly cup of tea. The Times didn't just take the Israelis word for it either:-

"The first barrage of rockets was fired from Gaza at about 4pm, according to both the Israeli army and witnesses in the strip. By midnight more than 25 had been fired, including several at Tel Aviv and the Jerusalem area. No injuries or serious damage were reported.

The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for the rockets fired at Tel Aviv and said that they were aimed at Ben-Gurion international airport."

Perhaps JR would rather believe now that the IDF dressed up as Hamas and imitated them reporting to the Times. It couldn't be the fault of the Arabs.

Hamas only have to be lucky with one rocket, one rocket could hit a plane, a terminal, a fuel tank. The IDF have to be lucky all the time.

Meanwhile the leadership of Hamas continue to run things from the basement of a hospital. Of course they are getting good at it, they even have outsiders believing that the jews were as bad as Hitler. FFS.

As I said at the start of the post that has upset you, I was referring to the 1900 hrs Channel 4 news.

I haven't bothered to read a paper, turn on the TV or the radio yet today.

If the Illustrious (?) 'Times' says Hammas broke the ceasefire, then so be it.  How many people did their 'rockets' kill or maim.

Regarding the little arab girl, the International Red Cross arranged and paid for the transportation and the UK (you and me), paid all the medical costs in London.

So why bring that up? No-one else did and I've certainly not complained so just a red herring and meaningless. Pointless.

Hamas admitted it JR. So now you know the truth are you going to retract your statements? Are you ready to admit - with the likelihood being, and one Hamas spokesperson saying "Bring it on - we're ready for anything!" that all of this as analysts perceive just an attempt to goad the IDF into a feet on the ground war within Gaza? Or are you still going to banging that "Jews are as bad as Hitler" Drum?

Too many people dying, too much of a waste.

I really don't care whose fault it is, both sides have behaved disgracefully as far as I am concerned.

It takes two to Tango as the saying goes.

Quite so, therefore I'll leave it at that.

Well up to now all you've done is blame the Israelis and compare them to Hitler.

I didn't think you'd be the sort of man to take a fairer view or retract your slurs.

Maybe like a lot of old plod you're just anti-semetic.

Yeah, me too, I can leave it there.

Everyone seems to be playing the blame game, but no-one appears serious about finding a solution. If the world leaders really wanted to bring peace to this, and every other region that has a conflict, they would demand a strict embargo on trading weapons of mass destruction, but they don't,  possibly because they are in the pockets of the arms manufacturers.

We have a general election next year and I doubt if any of the party leaders will have any thoughts on a solution to all the planets ills, because they know the majority of the electorate will vote with their wallets in mind, and only pay lip service to making the world a safer place for future generations.

What a wicked world we live in.
