..... might be in trouble.

Picked this up from todays web-page of the Dorking Advertiser.

Sir Michael, a local resident, has been accused with others of tax evasion totalling billions of pounds.

Another case of....  "Watch This Space"  ?

What a greedy selfish bastard he is.

We would all do the same in their position, its not greed it is common sense.

Not at all, even though I receive a state pension I'm still a net contributor and consider myself lucky, and wouldn't want it any other way. Tax dodgers just deprive the underprivileged of much needed help and are self serving selfish bastards.

All champaign lefties do it,moan about the rich and famous, then become rich and famous and moan from their 8 bedroom mansion in suburbia, while telling all the poor lefties that being rich is shite and something they wouldn't enjoy, but by the way , do the lottery, coz it feels good

Interesting, the Liberty scheme appears to be a loophole that has been exploited by the likes of Caine for some considerable time

Well you are wrong, not all people would do it, I was offered a scheme like this one by my accountant and I wasn't interested. I'm afraid I must be the one to disprove your stereotyping Smudge, I'm sure there must be many more less selfish and adverse to your 'common sense'.

If you've got more than anyone else it is your duty to pay your share of tax, more in, more out.

I can't honestly say that I'm surprised that celebs try and save as much of their money as they can.

The off-shore banking route has now almost been closed and the only other way is to live abroad as an 'exile' for the majority of the year.  Then, of course, they get slated by the public and the press for doing so.

I see there was a celebration of Sir Michael Caine's life at the Royal Alber Hall on 1 October in aid of the NSPCC where £75,000 was raised, it's hard to believe the great man is 81:

Tax dodgers are not great men, just parasites.

Crikey he's come out with some drivel today but that must have been scraping the bottom.

Do we actually know for sure whether Caine was guilty of tax evasion, finding a legitimate loophole to avoid paying an extortionate amount of tax is not evasion

Of course it's evasion, maybe not illegal, but certainly evasion.

Hookey - Well wouldn't you do exactly the same if you were in Caine's shoes

Hookey - So what if half of your hard earned money was being taken away in tax just for 'the privilege' of living in this Country, okay it's home but it's not exactly fair is it when others are sponging off the State left right and centre

The most income tax we pay in the UK is 45%, and that is only on annual earnings above £150,000. I would love to be a higher rate taxpayer.

Well exactly, would you want to pay 45% income tax on your earnings when, as I said, people are sponging off the State left right and centre and you would be contributing to their benefits

I would love my pensions to be up in the 45% bracket, but still happy to be making a contribution to the NHS, education and all other worthwhile causes.
