New stand at tivoli road end

Looks good -lets trust the team keep on winning and put plenty of bums on the seats .

I guess that seats have gone in to comply with BSS ground grade requirements.

From a spectators perspective-i wonder whether covered standing would have been as well received to get some sort of relief from the elements down that end during the winter months ?.

Do i recall correctly though that Mr Laslett is also organising a couple of other bits of 'new' temporary stuff which may give a bit of covered relief ?

lots of good stuff continuing to happen all around .

Ok this is where I make a comment. Am not wanting to sound like I'm complaining about anything as the new owner is putting his money in left right and centre and a welcome input it is I must say. I for one am extremely grateful,HOWEVER the problem we have down at the Coffin end is & has been the adverse weather conditions we get.

First priority I would have thought would be the need for covered areas there (all around the ground we lack them) but especially down that end behind the goal. Covered terracing would have been my choice and if more seating was a requirement then either side of "my preferred covered terracing behind the goal" and around the sides would have been workable. Hey I am not paying for it so whoever is paying for it has the right to decide I know but I don't think this has been thought through enough.

This is not a complaint so much as it is a concern.

We know what happens when it pisses it down & blows a gale, everyone scurries away for cover in the stands down the side or some just stand there taking the elements regardless.

For everyone, including the away supporter (very important) covering is a must need down the coffin end. Without the covering there is no change in my eyes as we are all still going to get soaked and frozen down there but now we will be doing it in a sitting position rather than a standing one.

The seating does make it look more like a stadium I admit but its not going to do the job when winter comes.

With all other improvements around the ground made by Bob I delight in and am more than thankful.

just a mention maybe having a covered area over a certain height requires some sort of planning permission be it a temporary structure.  The stand/seats may have been added so supporters can use them in the summer days/evenings PSF etc before the winter sets in, plus it makes the ground so much better then the 'no mans land' that's been there for years.....just a possibility as we all know how long planning permission takes !!!!!!

Some good points chaps. I just wonder whether the seating has been put in with segregation ultimately in mind? Obviously the only game where that will be needed this season will be Maidstone but, if we went up, then you'd probably have quite a few derbies in Conf South.

It must be a  planning thing as the notice about the application is in the local paper this week and mentions covered seating g areas on certain parts of the ground.  I suspect Jab's guess is near the mark.

Having just read through the application it does seem to be down to getting permission for covered seats/terraces after all. Lets hope this comes through in time for the start of the season proper.

If and when it does come through that that is in place now will need to be replaced as I cant see from the pictures that there is  "clip on" covering attachments in place,or maybe that IS the case and its not visible from a distance.

Anyways seems cover IS on the agenda after all then so apoligies for doubting covered facilities were intended in the first place.

Let us pray for the council giving Bob the lease that he wants to cover the whole ground rather than all the separate ones some for only short periods currently in situ. Given that I can see the new seats being covered by the proper building starting

does anyone know the timescale for the upgraded temporary changing facilities.

If i recall from the forum this was quite high up the 'to do 'list but not agrade one priority.

I would not have thought this would have needed new planning permission,as it is simply replacing a temp structure with a similar temp structure.

This is really good move in right direction and is an improvement, we all know it needs. A proper overhaul and permanent building and where in the ground... As do the owners.

With the temp structures at the north end, does getting this up make permanent permission easier to get? As the temp structure in terms of height size etc isn't too far off...

I think fill the stands each week, get punters in the door and the £££s rolling , which sadly in football even for city n Chelsea with open cheques is a factor, and then u see other investment be spent.

Fck me,you lot like a moan looool

As a team that has fck all seating/Standing behind our goals I would give anything for a uncovered seating/terracing area behind ours.

Just be thankful you have something there and stop moaning as it's all well and good someone putting money into your club and I for one would be as happy as the next margate fan if you go up and at least get back to conference national, but the bloke doesn't have to put the money into your club, he wants to,and debating whether you should of had a covered stand is actually offensive to him IMO,take the gift while it's there,be thankful what you are getting and I am sure you will end up with a top stadium, you have the space and Rome weren't built in a day lol

awww not all of us moan EU  :P but some of the stalwarts have had so many years grumbling with reason its hard for them to get used to exciting things happening  ;) with our local council its hard not to think the worse!

Funny how we all read things differently (or chose to interpret things as to how it best suits our personal agenda )

I didn't read that anyone was moaning-simply using the forum for one of its purposes-comment/debate

back to the main thread- having now looked at the planning application on the uk planning site , i think most of us will be very happy-more temp stands-including some covered standing, and upgraded temp changing rooms-in slightly different position.

just hope no objections, but can't really see how there could be when a bigger project has been previously approved ;and above all-tdc now seems to be more onside with the club -particularly as the club has increased still further its community investment

just marginally frustrated that one has had to do one's own research on this, when on all other matters, the club has been very forthcoming, and this is all now in the public domain.

maybe there is a fear of sabotage

  • 3 weeks later...

marginally moving the goalposts on this thread, do i recall correctly that Mr Laslett was previously open minded to the possibility of installing a 3/4G pitch at HDP ?

I wonder where he sits today on this one ?
