Hi Smudge,

The board are keeping people up to date via local papers, social media, programme  entries, and face to face.

No work has started at the ground yet, but that doesn't worry me.

Dorking FC will be playing at Meadowbank again, and in an improved facility.

No doubt I will moan about the choice of tile colour in the gents when I get there but I am looking forward to the night I walk through the town and see the floodlights blazing over  St Martins church again.

John,5 months on from taking over, still no news on the ground at Meadowbank from the New Board, hope they have not got the same attitude to that, as they have the Results.Have they held any meetings lately to update supporters on any progress?

Peter.

I am 'reliably' informed that any and all re-development of the Meadowbank ground is DIRECTLY down to Mole Valley District Council.  So, as Jeff said above, there's no need to worry.

Another year Groundsharing then,if Dorking are to survive.

That was exactly my thought Peter, when I studied it in depth.

Lets hope The League are agreeable.

Nosher,not moaning at all.

Fact, still got to go to another specific consultation, then planning, then finance clearance, then funding. Then somebody may object to the planned plans, then of course the actual work has to be undertaken.Councils are not known for speed, they have already taken 7 months to get this far,and no one is the wiser. I WISH THEM WELL.

I'm certainly not moaning Nosh.

It's certainly very good news.  I was under the impression though, that DFC had only been granted one seasons ground-share, hence our use of The New Defence, hence my comment about The League being agreeable.

p.s.  Having just seen Smudgers added reply, now you see the problem.

EVERYTHING is now all down to Mole Valley District Council, NOT the Club.

Appreciate the posts but I'd be very surprised if the league did not sanction a further groundshare for Dorking, should one be required.

E&E have been on the road for about 237 years now; Epsom Athletic have been sharing Chalky Lane for more than one season and - with all due respect to both teams - don't seem any nearer to ending their nomadic existences. In Dorking's case, not only do they have a venue to return to but there is a expected resumption date of between 2015 and 2016.

The key point from the PR is that MV are committed to a "footballing facility worthy of the market town". And we're not talking about a new Wembley here. No reason why Dorking can't move back in whilst the additional rec-facing refurbishments are taking place.

Have a bit more faith BJR. After everything your club has gone through lately, there now seems to be a genuine relationship between the owners and the council working towards the restoration of that famous old ground.

Agree with nosher, quite encouraging although i'm guessing the football ground may not be ready for August. Not sure the finances will allow, but with Meadowbank's pitch never being the best it would be great if a 3G surface was installed. I did complete the MVDC survey a while back, but from memory it was all about the rec as a whole (i.e would you use a cafe etc).

It makes sense to look at Meadowbank Rec and football ground as a whole. Little point building a cafe up at the cricket pavilion for example when the football ground is being worked on.

I'm just very happy Meadowbank as a whole will be rejuvenated and there will be football played in the town again.

No Sainsbury's, no new road, car park or whatever, but a football club in the town, and to be fair to the council, that is what they have said consistently even during the court case a few years back.

Bad news for Burleys but there's a million quid to help pay for Meadowbank! Clever old Council.

I'll have a green leather Queen Anne chair by the fireside facing the pitch please.

This very interesting Jeff.  I heard last week, (from 'someone in the know'), that Burleys, an old local established family firm had been 'bought out'.

Maybe that's the new firm referred to in MVDC's press release.
