Players who are suspended cannot play although the fixture will count as part of their suspension. We have a player with a one match ban carried over from last season and as such he will serve it on Saturday thus allowing him to start the league season.

Players do not have to be signed on, they can be players who played for your club last season or you are looking at with a view to sign this season. (THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE FIRST ROUND MATCH).If in doubt check with the Herts FA office regarding players.

You can play an unregistered player?

Yes - for the first round only as it is played pre-season.

So an unregistered player sent off in this Competition would serve a suspension from Saturday football.

Interesting.

Peter yes he can. The club would still get the forms but no points against the club. It will count in trotting up cautions and a suspension if set off. The Herts FA would not know if the player was registered or not at any point in the season unless the league tell them.

Seems like tip-toeing between the Rules.

An unregistered player picking up / serving a suspension in a competitive game is an interesting concept.

Let me see if I understand this.

A player with, say, a 1 match ban from Saturday Football that has carried over from last season is going to sign for Club 'A' who are not in this County Cup competition.

He decides to make himself available for Club 'B' who are playing in the Herts Charity Shield.

Is named as a substitute, doesn't play, is not registered for the Club.

Hey presto, suspension served.

Genius.

He cannot be named as a substitute if he is suspended

He cannot play if he is suspended.

How does a player tell the Herts FA that he has served his 1 match suspension if he is not registered with the Club?

Naming him as a sub shows he is part of the Club. Not playing means he is not in breach of his suspension.

You have to notify the Herts FA in advance naming the player, the club and which matches he will be serving his suspension.

Also I am led to believe that only registered players can serve their suspension - the loophole would be the player being transferred after the game to his new club having served the suspension for his club playing in the competition
