Dorking's two senior clubs merge

With all this talk about the two Dorking Club's merging I hope if it's true that they have looked at the FA rules on merging Club's

As the FA rule is that if two clubs merge they must go in the step of the lower step club, so that would be step 6 or even 7 if Dorking FC get relegated.

Here we go, yet again...........

eye1.

"With all this talk.............................."

That's all it was a few weeks ago, suggested by, I believe, the Chairman of Dorking Wanderers in the local press.

There was no further progress to the very best of my knowledge.

But surely if there was a merger, a quick application to the CCL would see 'Dorking United' back in the CCL anyway just to keep the numbers up.

AFC Wimbledon was a late application.

Hi Big JR well it might have been talk from a few of weeks ago but rumours and gossip travel a lot further.

Good to see your still around though.

Nice to chat to you Spursfan, whilst doing the Easter family shop yesterday !

And for the record of our avid readers, neither of us is still any the wiser at this stage.

Well from what I am hearing, I can't see any merger taking place in the NEAR future"

Quite so, Chris !

As the FA rule is that if two clubs merge they must go in the step of the lower step club, so that would be step 6 or even 7 if Dorking FC get relegated.

The problem with that is that it's a rule that's never been enforced.

Some examples where merged clubs have stayed in the higher club's league:

Hayes & Yeading United, Havant & Waterlooville, Penrith, Rushden & Higham United, Lincoln Moorlands Railway, Solihull Moors, Kirkley & Pakefield, Dagenham & Redbridge, Hinckley United, Maldon & Tiptree.

"Mole Valley District Council have said that a solution was offered to the club in March,
but that they are awaiting a response."

That says it all really!

Why do local journos do this?

"With the Chicks struggling on and off the field, due to the continued inability to play home games at Meadowbank because of ongoing health and safety issues, speculation has been rife on fans' forums over talks of a merger between Dorking and Dorking Wanderers."

I would hardly call it rife!!!

Obviously, the Advertisers journo's must flick on this site from time to time.

At least they had the common decency to contact Glynn and The Wanderers manager/owner.

UPDATE

It's reported in todays Dorking Advertiser that the CCL have given DFC until the end of this month to finalise a ground-sharing agreement.

Both the DFC Secretary and Glynn Stephens, (Manager), have given a brief quote.

As of now, this article is NOT YET on the web.

Also implies the league won't be relegating Dorking.

Good news for you and TSF, possibly not for the integrity of the league.

Not good news for me, Dorking FC not playing at Dorking is of little interest personally, unless its for one year while the ground is sorted.

I'd rather see DFC regroup in intermediate league at Meadowbank and work on getting a competitive side, with a youth system and gradually upgrade the ground back to senior football than groundshare for ever.

Liked the last paragraph,Regarding Fines,so will the League refund the Fine that Croydon received 2 years ago, regarding an unplayed fixture, when their reasoning was far better, than going Non Contact with anyone connected with the League.Sheerwater are not happy on their website,as giving South Kilburn 6 points, demotes them a place in the League Table.Seems like one rule for one,and another for the rest.
