DIVISION ONE

6-0 Bedford v Langford

A brief report from another Forum:

Bedford FC (1) 6, Langford (0) 0

Spartan South Midlands League Division One.

Admission; Committee pass, programme £1

Attendance; 26

Bedford kept up their promotion challenge with this win. It was only 1-0 at the break but what was probably a stern talking to by the Bedford management saw them run away with it in the second half for a final score of 6-0. They also had the luxury of a missed penalty and it did seem at times to be a game a between the Langford goalkeeper and the Bedford forwards! All credit to Adam Harpur, the Langford keeper, who pulled off a string of saves to prevent what could have been a double figure scoreline.

DIVISION ONE

0-3 Stony Stratford Town v Risborough Rangers

A 'report' from another Forum:

Spartan South Midlands Division One

Ostlers Lane

Stony Stratford 0-3 Risborough Rangers

Admission : £4 incl good glossy programme

Attendance: h/c 30 + few latecomers

Directions : again approach a bit tricky due to the naturally complex layout (I'm sure its not purposefully designed that way) of the general MK area. Stony is however a slightly older village of course than the grand metropole. Best approach from the jn of A5 and A422 at the western end of MK/Stony -head SE on Towcester Rd forking left onto Queen Eleanor Street looking right for Ostlers Lane.

Parking just on the left by entrance Football and Cricket.

From what I could tell there were no other approach routes to the ground, save perhaps a long way round behind the Tennis Bowls but as we were a tad late we didn't go that far round.

Did see a few people wander in from the Caravan Site up the far end too as well as a couple of cars.

Facilities: nice functional clubhouse - not sure if they offered any Hot Food. Some seats in a stand - metal barriered surround. Looked like a good set-up for this level - need to improve on the pitch.

Match: Risborough far superior all over the pitch - have done well at their first go up at this level.

Took cross-country route to M40 at Bicester back home by 18:20 ish.

DIVISION TWO

3-2 Old Bradwell United v Wolverton Town

A 'report' from another Forum:

Spartan South Midlands Division Two

Abbey Rd

Old Bradwell United 3-2 Wolverton Town

Admission/Prog: N/N

Attendance : h/c 20-30

Directions: buried deep in the Bradwell estate south off of Monks Way A422 - 2nd roundabout east from A5.

Facilities: No seats apart from up on the fringes of the park - clubhouse quite well appointed - but the draught beer was rotten - and took an age to pour - so couldn't be ar$ed to quibble - as entry was free.

Three-sided metal barriers - other is roped - presumably removed for Cricket - the square was very close to the touchline. Plenty of wayward clearances needed to be fished out of the canal that runs between the pitch and the railway embankment.

Looked as if they were firing up a BBQ for after the Ressies match due to KO @ 16:00 - but the visitors for that match (Crawley Gn) had started to arrive before the end of the 1sts match.

Match: good local tussle well controlled by a young lady ref - notably less swearing from the players.
