The pitch

Being at the point of the season we are-and in particular the inclement weather-i thought the pitch was in outstanding condition on saturday-and certainly imo-GI deserves major praise.

With that in mind- i was surprised that Mr Laslett is prepared to spend £250K improving it.

Very grateful just the same-and don't let us stop you-but whilst that investment would obviously improve things further-how much would the gain/betterement actually be in practice-15-20 % max maybe.

games would still be postponed-perhaps 3 only as opposed to 6 but does that really justify £250K-wow if it does.

that given-maybe it may include a bit of further levelling.

All good for TB as well-as enables him to play his preferred style of football a bit more often, but again-i could not see too much wrong with the pitch on saturday-.

appreciate there are underlying drainage problems -but again cost/benefit of £250k-i'm not so sure.

Interesting that Mr L was seriously considering 3/4G .

I wonder whether in light of todays FA decision he may re-visit that?

to me -a much better investment.

It probably won't happen for 12-or max 24 months-but agains todays decision will almost certainly lead to a change of position on 3G from many of the current anti 3G championship clubs that MR L advised.

I just think there will be an increasing groundswell of opinion favouring 3G that within 24 months outside-it will make 3G accepted by all.

Again-combined with the obvious skill of GI-and again-not being patronising-but i was astonished as to how good the pitch looked on saturday considering,my little mind thinks that £50k now on a grass pitch and £200k elsewhere may be a better investment, with further consideration given to £/4G.

either way-again to enable TB to play a more expansive style of football on occasions-i wonder whether the opportunity will also be taken to enlarge the pitch-not a lot of scope-but certainly it could take 1.5 metres in all directions

I was a bit concerned about TBs post match interview after saturdays match.

He said he was happy considering the awful conditions which werent helping the team to play how he wanted.

I too thought the pitch was actually in really good condition considering the weather we've had.

He said about the difficulties of playing uphill in the second half so i assume some of this money will be spent on more levelling.

If he was talking about the wind making it difficult to play then .......... well get used to it cos as we all know, thats what Hartsdown is like.

The slope is nothing compared to what it was in the old days. I think I read once it was 11ft.

if we still had the deep end as it was we would definitely lose sight of Bods for corners! I believe 11-12 feet was the difference before the leveling
