Fantastic to get our first 3 points in the BSS. I thought we were the better side marginally in the first half. Our goal was a slice of luck as a half clearance by their keeper dropped nicely for Wild to knock it home from short range. We looked shaky at the back at times, epitomised by the Truro goal, also scored by Chris Wild. I think most fans would count us lucky not to have conceded more than one, and we'll certainly need to tighten up at the back. Obviously the return of Swaine will help in that department.

May got sent off, presumably for an elbow on about 60 minutes. It didn't look like a bad foul to me, but I didn't see it clearly. It did rankle that the lino didn't flag for a foul, yet the ref consulted him before awarding the red card.

Fantastic effort from the rest of the lads, and to get a win from that position was terrific and showed a lot of the battling qualities that won us the league last year. The winning goal was a beaut from Lechmere, a volley from 10 or 12 yards out that he caught sweetly, prompting appropriate delight from the home fans.

Crowd was 400 or so, about what I expected for a game in August, on V weekend. I'm sure the average for the season will be up on that.

Anyway, back to the football. Forgot to mention my man of the match was Nathan Greene, thought he was absolutely superb today

Massive result today made hard work of it but at the end of the day it was 3 points.

Will probably play a lot better this year and lose .

What an excellent goal for the winner will be hard pushed to score a better goal all season Nathan Green taking on and beating 3 Truro defenders followed by the perfect cross for Sammy to smash it in beautiful.

A great win on a historic day for BTFC, Thought we rode our luck a bit but a superb cross by man of the match Nathan green saw us score and clinching it in the dyeing moments of the game.

They reminded me very much of Tunbridge Angles with the amount of diving they did, Their numbers 4 & 6 were either pissed or had wobbly knee syndrome because every time a BTFC player came anywhere near them they fell over. Maybe that's how it is at this level but i'd hate to think we would have to go down that road to get results

As for the red card they both went up with their elbows out and based on the ref's antics all game we were always the ones that were going to get done.

Still same old BTFC winning at New Lodge.

It was great to see the interactions between the ex club chairman & the scrumpy boy's. Glad the chairman of the supporters club got involved also.

But what a day for our present chairman, without his backing we would not be where we are today and he can forever say he was Chairman when Billericay Town FC stepped up to the Conference south.

Hat's off to Chairmen past & present.

We were chatting to some of the Truro lads before the game, were hoping that they had brought along a couple of their lovely pasties, we said 'quite a distance to drive up, how long did it take to get here ?' ... "about 1/2 an hour" one replied…he lived in Southend.. . a Truro exile apparently…also got some tips on good beers for the away leg... a nice bunch of guys....

I can't say I saw any of that.
The ref let a lot go and I thought he was a big step up from anything we saw last season.
May and their defence had battles, which I thought May was winning.
To compare them to Tunbridge is extremely harsh, and I think unfair.

Not sure on the sending off, but there didn't seem to be many complaints from the players.
If he retaliated with an elbow, he deserved to go - not a lot else that can be done.

Same as last season, this was a win from hard work. In that heat and being first game of the season, we can already see that the players are going to give us another season of effort, and hopefully that will bring it's just rewards again.

Oh dear Lord - 1 game into the new season and we're up and running with the ridiculous "I'm not allowed an opinion" comment.
I'm not even going to justify such a pathetic statement with an explanation.

Couldn't make the game, but was happy when the result came through. Not a bad crowd. Can't wait till Monday.
