The case of a man selling batteries which he thought were being bought by a company in Holland, betrayed by this country and allowed to be extradited to the US for supposedly selling them to Iran for use in missiles. Treated worse than a terrorist such as Abu Qatada protected by this country from being deported back to Jordan. Instead betrayed by Cameron's government and facing 35 years in jail as a 65 year old man.

Are we at war with Iran? Are the US at war with Iran? What right have the US to bring him to trial and who says that extradition treaties aren't worth the paper they are written on?

It seems that the US have appointed themselves Police of the World and no matter what local laws are or your citizenship if they don't like something you've done they can disregard your human rights let alone the rights you should enjoy as citizen of a sovereign state.

Even being a 65 year old tory supporter doesn't afford you the protection you are owed by your government.

Well I don't know if you know this Tory Boy but I believe Her Madge signs Acts of Parliament into "being".

However, the Act of 2003 was an abortion it is true, unfortunately though when Theresa May conducted a review in 2011 she found no need for any changes.

Politicians of any colour, you can't trust 'em.

Unbelieveably good article in the Daily Mail by Peter Hitchens (yes I know - The Daily Mail!!) about the kidnapping ( sorry - extradition) of our citizens by the USA. The War on Terror seems to have allowed them no excess unturned.

Does anyone know if the CPS get involved in extradition cases, as they are supposedly experts in determining if a case has a reasonable chance of success, and their expertise could save an innocent man spending possibly years in an American jail before an inevitable not guilty verdict is reached.

Not sure but I don't see how the CPS would be involved since they are not bringing this prosecution and are also not in the business of defending extradition cases.


I see that Christopher Tappin is being messed around by the US as his arraignment is delayed leaving him in an american jail without the ability to gain bail - if it is offered...

Hard to see that a British Citizen is being given the support he is due from his own government.

It is most beneficial for any State or Country to first submit and apply, with evidence to the CPS, before a application for extradition. This procedure is most always presented to the CPS in a Court of Law. However any State may present the case to their own legal representatives before submission. Either way, poor old Tappin will be 'stitched up like a Kipper'.

Christopher Tappin the 65 year old led to the court in shackles no less, denied bail by the court in El Paso, Texas because he is considered "A danger to the community".

And some people call Italy backward lol. If he was an attractive she, Christopher Tappin might have had the endless devoted support of Rhodes who seems remarkably reticent when it comes to this miscarriage of justice.

I see that Christopher Tappin has finally been allowed bail in the US and is free to wear a tag, and restrict his movements to Houston and El Paso. Unbelievably Tappin was held mostly in solitary confinement before briefly being moved to a shared cell but bravely described his experience as "tolerable". Tappin is staying with his lawyer to aid in managing the barbaric and indefensible costs involved in fighting for his freedom for the terrible crime of selling some batteries to a dutch wholesaler!
