Is this a joke???? Surely position in the table should be gospel when it comes to promotion or relegation otherwise what is the point!

"Correspondence was received from Hoddesdon Town on a number of issues. The club indicated that it wished to be considered for promotion at the end of the season, regardless of its League position. Mr Mitchell said that as requested he had forwarded a copy to the club of the changes to requirements for entry to the FA Cup and Vase for next season. Hoddesdon intimated that they were now in the process of obtaining Charter Standard status.

This is an annual event. For some reason, Hoddesdon Town believe that they belong in the Premier Division regardless of their finishing position in Div 1.

I can see where they are coming from and you can't blame them for trying can you? They've made sure their ground and facilities are up to the standard required and see teams in the division above with grounds that don't match the specified criteria for that division.

So what clubs are not up to standard?

Can they not play at home till the cricket finishes towards end of Sept, not ideal either for prem division

I find it bizarre that, although there are some rather overdemanding Ground Grading requirements, neither these nor the SSML rules say anything about actually being able to use the ground! (well not that I can find)

Look at the league table and Hoddesdon Town are 3rd in the table. They can still get automatic promotion so why are they not thinking positive. Writing letters to get in through the Cat flap is wrong and very negative. I not like Hoddesdon Town. Who is Jonno is he a forum friend associated with Hoddesdon FC.

Hoddy are trying to address the cricket issue as well. I'm not up to date as to if planning was accepted or not but they were looking to extend into the park at the south end so pitch could be moved. I assume this is so both cricket and footie could be played together?

Perhaps if you can get promotion through a letter rather than over 42 league games there's hope for Sun Postal Sports yet?

Blood ???
I do not know that phrase. It is certainly not a Nigerian or Anglo Nigerian saying.
In fact blood makes me feel very very queasy. My friend Horace, not the Horace from here, but Nigerian Horace who I work with got punched in the nose by an agressive man after giving him a parking ticket. There was a lot of blood which made me very very queasy.
Where is my friend Rhodes ? he not respond to my question about Captain Temile.

Now now Mister Ref , that is not very nice. I look back at old topics on this forum & 95% of your posts mention Mr Rhodes & his liking for Gentlemens Toilets.
I find that very very in-original. There is an old Nigerian saying "he who throws stones in greenhouses, should wear a Helmet to save him from glass on 'the head"
You not like me, but I don't care.I have the lord on my side.

Actually there is another saying, If you ain't wearing your glasses and you're stoned don't open your mouth as you are likely to get a gob full of helmet....yes.
Think that's Ghanaian saying?

Back to the promotion bit, the rule under 13.4.1 says top two with the appropriate ground grading and if these clubs fail on this then the third place club can get promoted if they have the ground grade.

Nothing about applying at all. So if you do not finish in the top 3 no chance of promotion.
