..has been "ordered" to be postponed by the Ryman League.  Cray had originally planned a 9:30am inspection in view of the distance Lowestoft woould be travelling.

It would presumably have been called off anyway, but the league seem to have felt it necessary to remove any doubt for Lowestofts benefit.

Precedented?

The league did the same last year when we had the heavy snowfall. They allowed clubs to use common sense, particularly if pitches were well covered by snow.  I seem to remember one weekend, all the games were called off by the Friday evening for the following day. Not one inspection by a referee took place.

That makes good sense; but I get the impression they over-ruled Cray in this instance who, at the time, wanted to reserve judgement until Sunday morning.

It's academic now with the snow settling, but I understand that Lowestoft wanted the decision made today, and it appears the "powers that be" acquiesced.

I think it was the sensible thing to do, bearing in mind the distance Lowestoft would be travelling and the early hour that they would have to set out.

It's good to know that the same sensible attitude would apply for any team due to visit Lowestoft under similar circumstances.

Would they have made it in time with A12 closed at Brentwood.
