Does it get any better than that? Superb! Admittedly we spent most of the game hanging on for dear life, even before Leon was sent off, and more so afterwards. Grays had loads of the play, and I wouldn't have begrudged them a win, but fair play to our lads for hanging on, and then nicking it at the end. The ref, quite frankly was embarrassing - and if you check my posting history, I rarely if ever criticise refs. He set the tone by booking Leon early on for diving, when it wasn't obvious to me how he could have stayed on his feet. As soon as he did that, every infringement was a yellow - I lost count of how many yellows there were, but the handbags with Leon aside (which was the right decision, and handled well), he must have booked 8 or 9, and sent off two.

Massive massive credit to Guns, who was immense, and really didn't stop working for the team as an outlet when we were down to ten men - I really can't remember seeing a harder working performance in Town shirt. The midfield 3 were also superb, and how Jon Moore found the legs to make the run in the last minute to get on the end of Guns' centre is amazing. Great header too. The back four were superb as well, with Jay having his best game that I've seen for the club, Jordan solid, and Kirby and Kendall immense as well!

I think I pulled a muscle celebrating the winning goal! Very very proud to be a Towner today, GREAT WORK to the team and the management!

I am told the crowd was 403 and we are sitting top of the league

Oh Dear,
Rather a different view of the game on the Grays Forum !!

Well played Town.
10 men ALL second half - great effort.

Even Grays supporters agreed about the Ref - one of the worst !!

A different view? Are they saying they didn't deserve to win, as I'm more than happy to admit that they were the better side, and should have (and would have) won if results were decided on chances and possession?

I think that we deserved the points. I accept that Grays had a lot of possession and indeed hit the post (bar) however it was clear that in the second half we were back pedaling and content to get the draw. I thought we had the better ball players and played the more constructive passes. They got the possession as they had the extra man. When both sides were down to 10 men then we got our second goal as they no longer had the extra man and we lasted the pace better.

Anyway Grays are clearly a good side and the season isn't half over yet. The league is now wide open and we are in there with a shout. BTW a record straight 7 league wins. Well done the TOWN. Proud to wear the shirt.

This post on the Grays forum is bit OTT as I said they did hit the post. But it does come closer to my view of the game.

"Unfortunately for all our pressure we never really looked liked scoring in the second half, yet every time they went forward they looked dangerous. At one stage I counted 8 passes which gained absolutely no ground whatsoever,we have got to be more direct and get the ball forward earlier. "

Beat me to the punch, Steph. I've seen some one-eyed club reports in my time...

Excellent game with end to football throughout by both sides. Let's be honest, Grays are probably the best team we will come up against and they did really well when they attacked down the flanks. Yes they did hit the post, had numerous efforts on goal and controlled some of the game. However, we contained them, attacked with pace, scored two goals to their one and got the three points.

Well done. Big game next week.

Thought the referee was the most consistent person on the pitch!

For the doubters, and there were a few, the ball was clearly in play when Adam was fouled by Andy though it was not a goal scoring opportunity and the ref made the right decision, including the booking.

However looking at the film I still dont understand why Moore was booked and the Grays' appeal for a penalty was not on - as for consistency if Osei was booked for simulation then why wasn't Grays forward as he moved at least two steps after Kirby's attempted challenge.

I think that is for you to answer Andy as you thought the ref was "consistent".

Also stop at 11:14 and you can see when Rudi got hit by number 2. Right in front of the lino but he saw nothing.

That was a full bench clearance - no fans involved!

Not many - 30 - 40 maybe.
We were expecting / hoping for 100 as this was a local / top game.
