This was my first game since january, I must admit although we were a little lacking fire power, it was so good to see that we trying to play football on the ground, better than the hoofing we did when I last came.

I think we looked very solid in defence,  midfield played quite well, felt a little sorry for Draycott on his own up front, but I thought it was a solid performance.

I think we are going to be a tough team to beat this year, if you don't conceed then thats a good foundation.

I think this is correct.

We look much more solid this season. In part this will be personnel. Brown is a far more commanding keeper than Armitt, Hoyte is a class above any other defender we have. In part it's formation. Playing 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1 as required gives the back four protection.

Having conceded 88 goals last season Williams has clearly recognised the main priority, which is to shore up at the back, and go from there. We are going to nick some points from games we had no hope in last year.

Of course our formation means we are going to be a bit light up front, but I reckon Daniel and co are going to have a lot of fun on the break away from home.

One other point, Stupple looks fitter than he has for several years, has lost weight and makes a big difference in there.

Things are looking promising from my viewpoint, especially when you see squad depth that has Lewis, Lawley, Sozzo and co on the bench. Last season it was three-five kids!

Don't forget Stacey Field, having not got to play yet in a league match he turned out for the reserves on Wednesday night and scored a first half hat-trick. He looked very confident in front of goal, I know it was only South Mids league, but confidence in front of goal is good at anly level.

Must mention Tom Damons free kick, you will not see better this season.

Nice  to see the old Olivetti being used again Carlo
